Wick sizing depends on your container diameter. As a general rule: use a smaller zinc core wick size for containers under 5cm, a medium size for 5–8cm, and a larger size for wider containers. Kaari provides a sizing guide with every order.
Most zinc core wicks from Kaari come pre-tabbed with a metal sustainer. Press the metal tab firmly to the center of your glass jar or container using a wick sticker or a small drop of hot glue.
Lay a wick bar, clothespin, or chopstick across the top of your container to hold the wick perfectly centered while you pour your melted gel wax.
Melt your gel wax and let it cool to around 80–85°C before pouring. Pour slowly to prevent bubbles. The zinc core will hold perfectly in place even as the liquid gel surrounds it.
Allow the gel candle to set at room temperature for at least 4–6 hours. Once fully set, trim the zinc core wick to 6mm before the first burn.
